Mountain Wolf, by Amber Ella Monroe

Cassie Grey’s nose for news has brought on more trouble than she was ready for.  Her investigation of the disappearance of shifters in Aspen Valley brings her a death threat and an urgent need to leave town.  She and her brother plan for her to hide out in a remote cabin, but a bad roof leaves her with nowhere to go.  Fortunately, Luke, one of her brother’s college friends, has a cabin rental business and can loan her a cabin next-door to his.

Cassie quickly falls for Luke despite their age difference.  Luke is hesitant for a lot of reasons.  It’s his best friends younger sister for one thing, for another he is a wolf shifter and neither Cassie nor her brother knows — at first.

Will Luke open up to Cassie and if he does, will she accept him despite the secret he’s been hiding?

This was a very enjoyable short novel with a satisfying HEA.  The mystery element of the story helps adds to the suspense of the situation.  This book is part of the Aspen Valley Wolf Pack series.
