Determined Prince (Captured by a dragon Shifter #1) by Michelle M. Pillow

The planet Quirilixen was settled long ago by dragon shifters from earth.  Now, due to a decline in the number of female shifters born, they need to reopen the portal to earth and acquire new brides.  They study earth transmissions and prepare to make a trial run to find a bride for Prince Kyran.

Eve plays guitar and sings for a hard-rock band.  After an especially good set, Eve decides to celebrate her birthday.  After a few shots of tequila she has some very strange conversations with an oddly dressed, but well-built man dressed as a cowboy.

Eve wakes up the next morning on Quirilixen where she quickly discovers that she’s not on earth anymore, Kyran is a dragon-shifter, and he says that they’re married or almost married.

The story is a fish-out-of water tale for both characters.  Kyran has some strange ideas about modern earth from his research into TV transmissions, and Eve has a lot of adjustments to make when she finds out just what she’s gotten herself into.

Determined prince is a fun novella and I recommend it for a light afternoon read.

Maximus the oldest is missing, Kassian is grouchy, snd Gabin is “around somewhere”. The other two brothers , Kean and Pierce have mates with them. Their evening is pleasant until they are attacked and Gavin rescues Lena from the fire in an exciting scene

I enjoyed the story. It works as a stand alone story, but.now I want to read the other books in the series to catch up on the backstory.

I received a free copy of this book. This, like all my reviews, is voluntarily produced.

Blood Magic, by T. G. Ayer

Blood Magic is book 1 in the Soul Tracker series.

Mel Morgan can teleport and use the veil to travel between planes.  She uses her talent to track missing persons.  She’s approached by Saleem, a djinn that needs help.  With the help of Mels support team, can she and Saleem dodge all the supernatural forces against them?

This was and interesting story with a well-developed world full of interesting characters.  The adventure was exciting and the mystery was intriguing.

Mason Dixon Monster Hunter, by Eric R. Asher

Mason Dixon Monster Hunter is a fun romp following Mason Dixon (yes, that’s his real name) and his faithful camerawoman, Emma, through the muddy wilds around Columbia, Missouri gathering footage for their YouTube show, Cryptid Hunter.

The story was very enjoyable and fast-paced.  The characters were colorful and the banter was witty.  I really enjoyed the various creatures and their backstories.  I lived in Columbia for 3 years and I always thought it was an odd place, so the settings just added to the humor for me.

There are allusions to larger mysteries and groups going on in the story’s world, so I would be interested in reading other books in this series.

A New Templars Novella

Wyvern’s Warrior by Deborah Cooke

Logic and emotion must be balanced when a cyborg meets a dragon princess

Wyvern’s Warrior is an interesting addition to The Dragons of Incendium Series by Deborah Cooke. (Book 3). Action, a cyborg mercenary is sent on a mission to Incendium. Thalina, a princess of Incendium, intercepts him sneaking into the vaults and realizes two things, he’s her mate, and he’s a cyborg. Thalina has longed to study cyborgs, but they are forbidden on Incendium so she now has an opportunity.

Action had some programming added just before he left on his mission and he believes he is being tested by the hive, the collective mind from his planet. Strange sensations and illogical things are happening to him and he’s not sure how to deal with them. As he and Thalina hide in the vaults, they discover many things, about themselves, each other, and Action’s mission.

The story is a fast-paced chase through the vaults and beyond. I found it exciting and thought-provoking. The cyborg learning about his new “programming” promotes lots of thinking about what makes one alive. Out of contact with the Hive, Action must adjust on his own, relying on his new programming and Thalina’s help.

This is the first book in the series I have read, but I did read the short story that proceeded it, which introduced some of the ideas about emotion vs logic. It will be interesting to see how the plot arcs develop in subsequent books and stories.

Omega Mu Alpha Box Set-Books 1-4, by Kimberly Loth

I love, love this series. The well-researched locations make me feel like I’ve been there, and the situations are varied and interesting.

The series is based in the romantic exploits of Omega Mu Alpha fraternity brothers who decided to each buy a Doberman when they made their first million. The brothers and dogs play prominently in each other’s stories and each story clearly shows the brothers regard for each other, even years after college. Each heroine is different with her own backstory and situations. The locations are so vividly drawn that they feel like another character in the story. From a few miles down the road to halfway across the world, the series’ scope is unlimited.
